I stayed with my very good friend, and we had *such* a good time &#8212; as usual.<\/p>\n<p><b>Handwork<\/b><br \/>At any rate, I took two classes while there. The first was a hand appliqu\u00e9 class from Karen Kay Buckley, and I&#8217;ve rarely had a more organized teacher! I had intended to apply Karen&#8217;s techniques to machine appliqu\u00e9, but I&#8217;ve decided to try to finish this smallish project by hand, just to see if I can.<g>This is what the piece is supposed to look like, and we&#8217;ll see how close I come. \ud83d\ude09<\/g><\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<table align=\"center\" cellpadding=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/IMG_0656.jpg\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/IMG_0656.jpg?resize=240%2C320\" height=\"320\" width=\"240\" \/><\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\">Fiesta block 3<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><g><br \/><\/g><g><br \/><\/g><b>Machine Work<\/b><br \/>Two days after this class, I took one from Sarah Vedeler, who does gorgeous machine quilting. I&#8217;ve had lots of classes featuring feathers, since I love them, and this one approached them from a different perspective. Sarah issued us all a challenge to practice for ten minutes *every* day for 30 &nbsp;days. I will definitely be taking up that challenge, but it will have to wait a little while to accommodate the &#8220;footwork&#8221; part of this post. Naturally, it&#8217;s my right foot that&#8217;s affected, so I&#8217;m not driving at this point and really need to keep my foot elevated most of the time in order to remain comfortable as I recuperate.
