Pumpkin — not pie ;)

This is Enchanted Pumpkin, designed by Claudia Dinnell. Can’t you just see it getting ready to become Cinderella’s carriage?  I used my wonderful Bernina 780 to appliqué, embroider, piece, and quilt it. The embroidered appliqué alone took about a dozen re-hoopings, which always makes me nervous. In fact, I did make a placement mistake, but I managed to camouflage it. Whew! I love the gradated purple I chose for the border! I used the same purple for the binding, accenting the piece with corded piping in orange. The whole thing is about 25.25″ square.

Here is a closer look at the central portion; I didn’t embroider the title in the top border, as the pattern suggested, so this is the main focal point.

The pumpkin is, naturally, the star of this piece, so I opted to keep the quilting very simple. I did diagonal lines in the black background; I’m not at all sure you’ll be able to see them, but they’re there, I promise!

I used those same diagonal lines in the purple border. Then, where the lines came together at their tops and formed a triangular shape, I added a little zentangle motif to tie things together. All of the quilting was done with ruler work, which is really fun — especially with the terrific #72 ruler foot for Berninas.
