Cozumel jaunt

Last summer, my husband got the idea that a long weekend in Cozumel would be a good idea. He booked our trip for mid-January, so we packed and got ready when the time came. At 4:00AM on a Thursday, we were at the Las Vegas airport. At 6:00 we boarded our plane. And then we watched as various repairmen fiddled around in the cockpit; it wasn’t a good sign. By 7:00, we knew we had absolutely no chance of making our connection in Dallas for the only flight into Cozumel that day, so we got off the plane. About 20 minutes later, the rest of the passengers also got off, but they boarded a substitute plane while we were still making arrangements to try again the next day. By the time we were able to retrieve our luggage and go home, we’d spent almost five hours at the airport without leaving town!

The next day things went considerably better, and our flights went off without a hitch. Whew! Unfortunately, I’d missed my chance to swim with dolphins, as our hotel only offered that on Fridays and Mondays; it was already too late that Friday, and we were leaving again on Monday. Oh well. We did have a lovely room, complete with hot tub in the living room and hammock on the balcony. 🙂

And the view! The view was glorious! Blue seas as far as we could see, except when the rains came and turned everything grey for a time.

We spent most of one day driving all around the island in a rented Jeep; the scenery was spectacular. Because of the wind, the clouds and ocean were very dramatic. These next two photos were taken at Chen Rio.

Luckily for us, our trip home was uneventful, and my husband already wants to plan another trip to Cozumel.
