Happy birthday, Bisou!

Bisou and Mike - 2Today is Bisou’s (pronounced Bee-zoo) birthday and she’s nine now! We’ve had her since she was seven months old, and we’ve loved every minute. She had only been with us for a few days when this first photo was taken; she’s always been very good at napping and getting comfortable! Sure, there have been “issues” — she chewed up a few shoes and parts of a leather sofa and love seat, for example. But she survived and has outgrown that. 😉 Unfortunately, she’s never outgrown her terror of loud noises, which makes thunder or fireworks very stressful.

See what I mean about getting comfy? Who’d have thought this would be a cozy way to nap? LOL!

Bisou in her mortarboard - 3

Bisou went to puppy classes at PetsMart, and there are some things she does really well: sitting and lying down, for example. “Stay” works sometimes, and she doesn’t really see the point of “heel”. As you may be able to tell, too, we started out trying to keep her cocker spaniel coat long, but that soon gave way to something more comfortable and easier to manage.

Bisou and new ball on her birthday - 1

Bisou spends a lot of time in the sewing room with me, where she has a cozy bed behind a rocking chair. She also considers the rocker to be hers, though she’ll share with our grandchildren, whom she adores. Can you tell she has a bit of attitude? But what would you expect of a special girl like her?

Bisou

Bisou really likes to have little hiding places for her naps, which is why her bed is behind the rocking chair. In our bedroom, her favorite spot is underneath the quilt rack with its dangling quilts to create a little den. For this photo, she emerged a little, but she’s usually all but invisible under there.

Happy birthday, Bisou!
