Last night I had a very nasty surprise when I wanted to check something on this blog. The whole blog was gone!! Gulp! All that remained was some text that indicated a problem with the coding in the “theme” I use here. Ack! Of course I did the wrong thing right away — it figures. I called my hosting company; these are the people from whom I “rent” the space for my site, including the blog. After a 45-minute wait on hold (and the live chat support was apparently not working), I spoke to a rep who told me that there was, indeed, some problem with the coding. She was, however, able to get my blog back up by temporarily switching to a different theme, which was something I’d been unable to do since I couldn’t access my dashboard with all of the settings.
This morning, after a bit of time to ponder, I did some more research. Now that I could finally access my dashboard, I was able to delete the faulty theme and download a fresh, trouble-free version. As I said above, whew! Back to normal! Interestingly, the same thing had happened to several other people, all using the same hosting service. Hmmm …
